Pareto-optimality approach for flexible job-shop scheduling problems: hybridization of evolutionary algorithms and fuzzy logic

چکیده
Most scheduling problems are complex combinatorial problems and very difficult to solve [Manage. Sci. 35 (1989) 164; F.S. Hillier, G.J. Lieberman, Introduction to Operations Research, Holden-Day, San Francisco, CA, 1967]. That is why, lots of methods focus on the optimization according to a single criterion (makespan, workloads of machines, waiting times, etc.). The combining of several criteria induces additional complexity and new problems. In this paper, we propose a Pareto approach based on the hybridization of fuzzy logic (FL) and evolutionary algorithms (EAs) to solve the flexible job-shop scheduling problem (FJSP). This hybrid approach exploits the knowledge representation capabilities of FL [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 1 (1989)] and the adaptive capabilities of EAs. The integration of these two methodologies for the multi-objective optimization has become an increasing interest. The objective considered is to minimize the overall completion time (makespan), the total workload of machines and the workload of the most loaded machine. Many examples are presented to illustrate some theoretical considerations and to show the efficiency of the suggested methodology. © 2002 IMACS. Published by Elsevier Science B.V. Optimality of the flexible job shop scheduling system based on Gravitational Search Algorithm
The Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP) is one of the most general and difficult of all traditional scheduling problems. The Flexible Job Shop Problem (FJSP) is an extension of the classical job shop scheduling problem which allows an operation to be processed by any machine from a given set. The problem is to assign each operation to a machine and to order the operations on the machine...

متن کاملSolving Flexible Job Shop Scheduling with Multi Objective Approach
In this paper flexible job-shop scheduling problem (FJSP) is studied in the case of optimizing different contradictory objectives consisting of: (1) minimizing makespan, (2) minimizing total workload, and (3) minimizing workload of the most loaded machine. As the problem belongs to the class of NP-Hard problems, a new hybrid genetic algorithm is proposed to obtain a large set of Pareto-optima...
متن کاملProposing a Pareto-based Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm to Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem
During last decades, developing multi-objective evolutionary algorithms for optimization problems has found considerable attention. Flexible job shop scheduling problem, as an important scheduling optimization problem, has found this attention too. However, most of the multi-objective algorithms that are developed for this problem use nonprofessional approaches. In another words, most of them c...
متن کاملAn integrated approach for scheduling flexible job-shop using teaching–learning-based optimization method
In this paper, teaching–learning-based optimization (TLBO) is proposed to solve flexible job shop scheduling problem (FJSP) based on the integrated approach with an objective to minimize makespan. An FJSP is an extension of basic job-shop scheduling problem. There are two sub problems in FJSP. They are routing problem and sequencing problem. If both the sub problems are solved simultaneously, t...
